Deadlines

Tax Year 2026 Key Dates

Pakistan's tax year runs 1 July to 30 June — different from the calendar year, which is where most first-time filers get confused.

Mid-month, following each tax period
FBR has extended deadlines in some past years via SRO notification, but this is never guaranteed. We recommend filing well before the due date — late filing can mean daily penalties under Section 182 and loss of Active Taxpayer List status, which raises withholding tax on banking, property, and vehicle transactions.

FAQs

Common Questions

What is the last date to file my income tax return for Tax Year 2026?

30 September 2026 for salaried individuals, other individuals, and AOPs. Companies with a 30 June year-end have until 31 December 2026. We recommend filing in August or early September to avoid IRIS portal slowdowns closer to the deadline.

Do I need to file if I have no taxable income?

If you hold an NTN or have received a filing notice, you should still submit a nil return to stay on the Active Taxpayer List and avoid higher withholding tax on everyday transactions.

How often do I need to file sales tax returns?

Most sales-tax-registered businesses file monthly, around the middle of the following month. Some small businesses may qualify for quarterly filing under FBR's special procedures — we'll confirm what applies to you.

Can overseas Pakistanis file through AverroTax?

Yes. Non-resident Pakistanis with an NTN or Pakistan-source income — including Roshan Digital Account holders — can authorize us to file on IRIS on their behalf, entirely over WhatsApp and email.

What happens if I miss the deadline?

You'll face a daily penalty and lose Active Taxpayer List status until you file, which increases withholding tax on banking, property, and vehicle transactions. Filing late is still far better than not filing at all — we can help even if you've missed previous years.

Can you handle both my personal and business filings?

Yes — many of our Lahore clients have us handle their personal income tax return alongside their business's sales tax filing and FBR/SECP registrations under one engagement.
